Patients are participating in cancer research around the world
We currently have a number of clinical trials and research studies seeking patients managing various types of cancer. We can help find trials and research studies near you and may help you to get access to those opportunities.

What is cancer?
Cancer is a general term used to describe cells that grow abnormally and form a tumour. As cancerous cells can arise from almost any type of cell, cancer actually refers to about 100 different diseases. Cancer occurs when certain and important genes are affected by changes called mutations. These affected genes typically oversee cell growth or cell death, and these mutations often lead to cells multiplying in an uncontrolled manner - creating the tumour.
Symptoms depend on the type of cancer and often, if left untreated, these cells have the potential to spread to other parts of the body, such as the bone, brain and liver (metastasis). Once the cancer has spread, it becomes more difficult to treat and may interfere with the functioning of other affected organs.
How cancer is diagnosed and treated depends on the type of cancer. Some cancers have a number of treatment strategies, such as surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and targeted therapies. Unfortunately, for some cancers, options can be limited.
Where is cancer research now?
With the prevalence rates of cancer around the world and how cancer can affect a range of people from infants to the elderly, there is a strong research effort working to understand how different types of cancer develops, how it can spread and how it can be treated with minimal side effects. The field of cancer research is quickly advancing, and new generation therapies are being developed in the lab and used in the clinic to improve outcomes for people with cancer.
How can I get involved in cancer research?
Participating in cancer research and clinical trials may be a method to access the latest treatment drugs or it may help pave the way in developing new therapies that will benefit others. There are a large number of clinical trials and research studies undertaken around the world each year to understand and treat different kinds of cancer, and prevent metastasis.
